Nowadays, most people spend almost all their time at work. Under those circumstances, having a job where you feel comfortable is vital. However, many job vacancies are more attractive in an advertisement than in real life.

With this in mind, it’s important to realize if your current job is right for you or not. Being in a place where you aren't comfortable will have not only professional consequences but also health consequences. For that reason, it’s important to know how to identify warning signs at your workplace.

After the coronavirus outbreak, remote working is becoming the new standard. Given that, having a job where you’ll have personal growth will help you deal with isolation. Given these points, here are some signs that will help you notice if your job is indeed made for you or not.

These warning signs will not only help you know if your current position is the right fit, but also if it’s having a positive effect on your life.

Your Current Position Affects Your Personality

Being able to show who you are is one of the most important things in life. For that reason, if your current position does not let you be who you are, that’s definitely a huge warning sign.

Workers like UX designers need to flex their creativity to build eye-catching designs. In that case, if they are not comfortable in their workplace, they will not perform well.

On the other hand, being in a place where you can’t be who you are affects not only your performance but also your mental health. Under those circumstances, as you are not able to focus and do the right thing, you will always be in the same place without personal development.

You have to remember that nowadays, changes are necessary, and to move forward, you will need a position that adds meaning to your life. Otherwise, you should quit and look for a new position.

Your Current Job Makes You Feel Unmotivated

Motivation is what makes you get out of the bed, put on some clothes, and get ready to work. With this in mind, it’s vital to say that without it, everything will be uphill.

Many unmotivated people are in a position where they feel they don’t belong. In that case, if you think that your current job gives you no reason to feel motivated, that’s a big “your job is not for you” warning sign.

Organizations are responsible for creating working environments where employees can feel inspired. Otherwise, they will have poor results. Workers who love their work are always willing to give more and work harder. For example, Google’s workers, like web developers, are not only happy because of their salary but also because of their benefits and the excellent working environment.

In fact, as they feel like their job is not an annoying job, they always feel motivated. In other words, getting out of bed is not a struggle as they feel nothing but happiness when they think about their job.

You Are Constantly Overwhelmed

Accepting when you’re not able to handle a situation is one of the most important things at work. Given that, employers like software engineers have a lot in their shoulders as they are always dealing with stressful situations.

Deadlines, time management, goals, and many other responsibilities make employees feel stressed. For that reason, if you are constantly overwhelmed, and you are always in a bad mood, you should evaluate your current situation. Accepting that you are enough for a job could be a hard hit for your pride. However, it’s always good to keep things clear and not sacrifice your health.

Feeling stressed and frustrated can have a negative effect on your health. In fact, it would affect not only your physical health but also your mental health. In other words, to live longer, you will need to be in a place that improves your well-being. So, if your current job is not what you expected and additionally makes you feel overwhelmed, quit.

You Have no Personal or Professional Growth

Nowadays, having professional growth is essential to stay relevant. Most employees feel comfortable and motivated when employers provide them with development opportunities. In that case, as growing is part of our life, we must grow to find balance. If your current position or organization does not let you grow, that’s a big sign that you should get a new job.

In the same way, having personal growth makes us better people. So, if there is no chance to grow, not even personally, your job is not made for you. Tech talents, like web developers, need to update and upgrade their skills to implement best practices. Under those circumstances, if they have no opportunities to grow, they would become obsolete.

To put it in another way, education is becoming the new currency these days. As a result, workers who are not able to update their skills won’t be able to get a job in future days.

Your Strengths Are Not Required in Your Current Position

Landing in a new job where your actual strengths are not required can be disappointing. It’s because as you are not able to implement and develop your abilities, you might lose practice.

On the other hand, it’s essential to say that many people have different talents. So, as long as you can apply one of your talents, it will be beneficial for you. Otherwise, it’s not the right job for you.

For example, engineers can be experts at coding as well as designing attractive interfaces. With this in mind, it’s important to say that both tasks require different types of intelligence. However, if they are not able to apply their strengths, they will become obsolete at coding as well as designing.

When landing a new job, you should consider if it’s going to have a positive impact on your professional life or personal life. As a result, you’ll be able to know if it’s made for you or not. Remember that we need things that could add meaning to our life instead of subtracting.

Conclusion

As can be seen, it’s essential to know if a job is made for you or not. It’s because you will be able to determine if it’s providing good or bad things to your life. If your job role makes you feel unmotivated, you are always overwhelmed, and it’s affecting your personality, you should take action.
