GIVING BACK: NannoCARES Re-Cap CASA LA and Glamour Gowns and Suit Up
Nannocare Team
Each year Glamour Gowns Suit Up takes time to make the youth of Los Angeles feel special and seen! This year, during the weekend of March 3rd, we had the privilege and honor of being a part of that special event and sharing in the good feeling of doing something impactful within our community. As stated on their website page hosted by CASA LA.
“From…uncertain placements to online learning in what can be crowded group homes, youth in LA County's foster care system deserve the opportunity to dress up and feel the[ir] best. We are returning to what we love most: providing complimentary, brand new formal attire and accessories to high schoolers in the Los Angeles foster care system.”

This annual event was hosted at the Los Angeles Convention Center and saw over 400 youth in attendance shopping around for gowns and suits for their special upcoming high school dances. Being at the event you could feel and see (behind the mask) smiling faces, excited emotions and a good time allowing everyone to connect during a joyous moment. We were delighted to donate NannoPad to go in 250 goodie bags for those who menstruate to take home along with other goodies generously provided by local and larger companies. Our main purpose to be involved with the CASA LA event was that we wanted to ensure that those who need access to menstrual products would have them when they need it the most. It is not unheard of for many to go without the proper items needed for their monthly menstrual cycle and we are here to break that cycle.
A study conducted by Harris Insights & Analytics of 1,000 teens ages 13 to 19 found “20% — one in five — of teenage girls surveyed can’t afford to purchase menstrual hygiene products. It also states that two-thirds of respondents feel stress because they don’t have access to tampons and pads, 61% have worn tampons more than four hours, 25% missed class because they didn’t have access to tampons or pads, and 83% think lack of access "is not talked about enough.” Here at Nannocare, we are continuously doing our part to ensure there is access to quality feminine hygiene products by giving back within our community and abroad. The problem does not stop at one door but leads to another where we can all make a difference.
